Amp repairs & mods

Is your amp buzzing, crackling or completely silent? Then it’s time for a professional repair. At Ruhrpott Guitars, I take care of the repair and maintenance of analogue guitar amplifiers – reliably, transparently and with the necessary finesse.
Whether it’s your trusty Fender, a roaring Marshall or a characterful Vox – I’ll get your sound back on track. Minor faults can often be fixed straight away, while we’ll sort out bigger problems together after an initial diagnosis.
Workbench flat rate for amplifier repairs
For the initial assessment and troubleshooting, I charge a workbench flat rate of €75 (for up to 90 minutes of labour, excluding spare parts). In many cases, I can carry out minor repairs directly during this time – or give you a precise estimate of the repair work and the expected costs.
This gives you a transparent basis for your decision – and your amplifier is already one step closer to making a comeback.

Amp modding
Tremolo Mod for the Fender Deluxe Reverb Reissue
The European Fender Deluxe Reverb Reissue models no longer come with the classic lamp-and-LDR tremolo that defines the characteristic vintage sound. Instead, they are fitted with the so-called ROHS tremolo. While this modern version may look compliant on paper, it sounds noticeably different from the original. Guitarists quickly realise that the tremolo feels less deep and organic, produces more background noise, and, due to the large number of additional components, is more prone to failure. Musicians seeking the authentic sound of the 1960s – or those who want a reliable amp for both studio and stage use – will benefit from converting back to the traditional LDR tremolo. With this modification, the Deluxe Reverb Reissue regains the warm, vibrant tremolo tone that made the amplifier world-famous.
Why the conversion makes sense
- too many unnecessary components that may fail
- more hiss and background noise
- significantly stronger tremolo “ticking”
Before (ROHS Tremolo)
- shallower tremolo effect
- more noise
- complicated, failure-prone circuit
After (LDR Tremolo)
- deeper, warmer tremolo – just like the original
- far less noise
- simpler, more reliable design
- authentic vintage sound
Price
€100 – including all parts and installation.
Bring me your Deluxe Reverb and I’ll modify the tremolo – afterwards it will sound the way it was meant to: classic, lively and inspiring.
